…The ultimate in pallet rack storage efficiency

Click here for a pushback rack quote The ultimate in pallet rack storage efficiency Push Back racking is a rack system that combines standard selective pallet racking with a cart and rail system that sets on horizontal load beams. As in standard selective racking, you typically have two pallets side by side on a beam level but the advantage is you can have 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 up to 9 pallet positions deep. Push Back rack can go multiple levels high and can be designed to go 30' or higher. The difference in drive in rack over Push Back rack is when you remove the first pallet the pallets behind it roll forward at slow and controlled speed to the front of the aisle for picking. If you put a stop watch on a lift truck driver operating in a drive in rack system compared to a pushback rack system you will see that pushback rack offers a tremendous time saving on every pick compared to selective or drive-in storage rack systems. This time savings added up over the course of a year amount to tremendous cost savings for your company. Because pushback racking offers greater density, selectivity and time savings over all other styles of rack it is almost a must have for food distributors, frozen food warehouses and any distribution center that has a high pallet turnover.

System Flexibility
Ridg-U-Rak has been proving pallet storage solutions for over 50 years. This broad experience is evident in Ridg-U-rak pushback systems. It is simply the highest quality, highest density & highest efficiency pushback pallet storage system on the market. The unique features of our pushback system result in the ideal combination of smooth, low resistance movement and low profile. The patent-pending design is a significant advance in pushback storage technology. Using components certified to the standards of the Rack Manufacturers Institute (R.M.I), Ridg-U-Rak can design a pushback system that meets your specific requirements. Lane heights and depths can be supplied in a wide variety of combinations. In fact, Ridg-U-Rak can provide free flowing, manageable Pushback lanes from 2 pallets to 9 pallets deep. There is surprisingly very little maintanance and because the lift trucks don't drive into the rack, the life span of pushback racking is much greater than drive in rack systems.

High Productivity
Pushback storage provides a very desirable combination of high density and accessibility. Pushback storage is equal or greater than drive-in storage, yet every lane can be accessed at all times. Any lane can be 100% filled from the aisle without affecting any other adjacent lanes above or below. A cost justification analysis will prove that the increased density and efficiency of pushback rack will have a short return on investment, far greater than that of a drive-in rack system.

Stock Rotation
While pushback is a reverse flow storage system that operates on a last-in-first out (LIFO) basis, you can easily rotate your stock on a first-in-first-out (FIFO) basis. You simply never store new lots in front of previous lots. This is much easier to accomplish in a pushback rack because every level of every bay is accessible from the aisle.

Greater System Life Span
Pushback rack systems generally take less abuse than drive in rack systems because the lift trucks are not required to drive into the system. This reduces the great opportunity of rack damage found in drive-in rack systems. Since pushback rack allows you to pick pallets from the aisle the likelihood of damage is greatly reduced, thus greatly extending the lifespan of your rack system.

Lower Cost
Pushback storage, in spite of it's higher initial cost, is actually less expensive than drive-in storage for two reasons. First is the reduction of multiple handling time. Secondly, it takes less pushback rack and less storage space to provide the same storage capacity as a drive-in rack. Consider this, drive in rack provides a typical utilization factor of about 60%. This means that on any given day "honeycombing" in the rack results in a only about 60% of the available spaces being used. Pushback provides utilization of 90% or more if it is correctly applied. To realistically store 1,000 pallets in drive-in you need about 1,600 pallet positions. With Pushback, practically every pallet position is utilized. Than could mean a smaller warehouse is needed, or lessen the need to expand to a larger warehouse. If you call us at 636-938-7100 we can provide you with a new pushback rack quotation or we often have warehouse liquidations that include large quantities of used pushback racking.

Low Stacked Height
Ridg-U-Rak pushback carts telescope to keep vertical space requirements as small as possible. In a five deep system, for example, vertical differential from the aisle pallet to the 5th is only 5". Ridg-U-Rak's lower vertical spacings may allow you to get more pallets stored within the confines of your clear ceiling height, than the competition allows.

Superior, Heavy Duty Wheeels & Bearings
Large, coated Ridg-U-Rak wheels with sealed bearing contrast with ordinary pushback wheels. Ridg-U-Rak has superior quality components compared to similar gravity flow systems manufactured by Advanced Systems, Monoflow & 3D storage systems. Larger wheels provide greater strength and ease of operation, and sealed-for-life self-lubricated bearings permit wash down without corrosion, seals out dust and moisture & allows for operation from -30 degrees F through 250 degrees F. You will find less maintance, less down time and greater life span with Ridg-U-Rak's pushback racking systems.

Designed With The Operator In Mind
The easier a pushback system is to use, the more productive a storage tool it becomes. Ridg-U-Rak pushback simplifies pallet placement, requires less force to move pallets, and is fitted with safety features that aid the lift truck operator.

Designed For Trouble-Free Operation & Great Safety
Unlike pallet flow through systems that require high maintenance due to pallets getting jammed because of a broken board or debris, Ridg-U-Rak pushback pallet flow system requires very little maintenance. Our pushback wheels are enclosed within the cart and not exposed to debris, thus preventing pallet jams. The deepest cart in the back of the system has a notched out base to prevent pallet run out. Cart linkage has locking engagement to prevent over extension. J channel stops prevent carts from being accidentally uplifted out of system.

Operating Sequence Of A 5 Deep System
1. The operator aligns first pallet load with storage lane. 2. Pallet is positioned above telescoped cart system. 3. Pallet is lowered into position one, (Note: quality pallets will always provide more consistent pushback performance.) 4. Second pallet load pushes first pallet load back into lane and is seated into position on cart below. 5. Third pallet load repeats procedure. When fourth pallet is loaded, yellow "full cart indicator" is visible. 6. When fifth and final pallet is placed on rail, yellow "full cart indicator" is no longer visible, indicating lane is full.
